John Egan, the defender from the Republic of Ireland, has been signed by Burnley until the season’s conclusion. The 31-year-old, after a trial period with Scott Parker’s Sky Bet Championship team, was available following the end of his employment with Sheffield United over the summer, where he spent six seasons.
“I’m an ambitious individual and footballer. I perceive this club as ambitious as well,” conveyed Egan on the Burnley website. “The desire for success is shared by the manager, staff and team members. I aim to contribute to their success with my experience and skills, aiding the group’s progression.”
Egan has earned 36 caps for his national team and has previous associations with Gillingham and Brentford. During his tenure at Sheffield United, he was part of two Championship promotions. After being demoted from the Premier League alongside the Blades last season, Burnley are currently in the Championship’s sixth position, having accumulated seven points from the initial four matches of the season.
