“Jess Kelly: Liberation from Others’ Opinions”

Are you a necessarily amicable individual?
I tend to find myself oscillating between wanting to be more congenial and taking satisfaction in my determination to uphold my personal beliefs. Though I never intentionally seek out conflict, I make it a point to share my viewpoints and emotions.

What is your middle name and how do you feel about it?
My middle name is Valentine. Can you ascertain my birthday from this? I used to shy away from mentioning it out of embarrassment, but as I’ve grown older, I’ve become more confident and accepting of it. Now, many of my mates refer to me as “Jessica Valentine”, a nickname they’re aware I used to detest.

Which part of Ireland do you love the most?
I’ve spent numerous summers along the Shannon, and I’ve grown fond of Lecarrow in particular. It’s serene, visually pleasing, and an ideal location for basking in the sunlight while engrossed in a book.

If you were to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?
This is a challenging question. While I could attempt to portray myself as ‘hip’, I’d rather be truthful. Frankly speaking, I’d describe myself as faithful, original, and an anxious muller.

When was the last time you felt anger?
I hardly ever experience anger; instead, I get easily riled up mainly because I prefer order and structure. It would certainly require a significant incident to incite real anger in me.

Is there anything you’ve lost that you wish you could reclaim?
The capability to sit down without experiencing a fleeting pain in my back.

What is your most vivid memory from your childhood?
My strongest memory has to be frolicking on the beach at Mojacar Playa in Southern Spain. That’s where we spent most of our summer vacations, and I absolutely adore that place.

Where do you rank in the birth order of your siblings, and has it shaped your personality?
I am the middle child, and I believe I perfectly personify all the typical traits associated with middle siblings. I’m a problem-solver, a fretter, and a go-getter.

What are your beliefs regarding life after death?
I believe in nothingness post-death, and I’m at peace with that notion.

Tell us about your happiest moment.

My happiest moments are always spent with the people I cherish the most, whether that’s my boyfriend, my adorable nieces and nephews, or my close friends. An unforgettable memory that comes to mind is when I took my nephew to Old Trafford the previous year. The delight on his face when we stepped into Old Trafford is a sight that nearly brought tears to my eyes.

If a film were to be made about my life, who would I envision to portray me on the big screen? Well, my grasp on movies and actors isn’t the best, however, a friend suggested “Emma Stone”, so let’s stick with her.

Reflecting on my biggest regret in my career or personal life, I realise I spent an inordinate amount of time attempting to earn approval from others, when I should have been focused on my own path. It was a revelation when I realised the importance of being myself, free from the judgement of others.

As for any psychological quirks? Quite a few, in fact. I am rather meticulous regarding the manner in which I do things. However, instead of fretting over them, I have embraced them as they contribute to my unique self.
