Italian flower festivals: Pietra Ligure and others

500 instructors and thousands of square metres of floral carpet in mosaic design mark the tradition of the “Infiorata” or flower festival from May 18-20 in Pietra Ligure.
The site for the region of Liguria reads:“The idea of organising a national festival in Pietra Ligure comes from the centuries-old tradition in the small commune of Ranzi in occasion of the the Corpus Domini, “The star of Ranzi” – a carpet of fresh flowers that takes form in front of the chapel of S.

Concezione.
If you’re interested in seeing the Star of Ranzi, go here to see a collection of compositions created throughout the years.
Other famous flower festivals in Italy include that at Genzano in Lazio which starts June 14, the one at San Pier Niceto the 23rd of May, and in Spello the 24th and 25th of May.
Fabriano has its own display in mid-June, and for the rest you can go to the Infiorata association’s site.
