Italian film Gomorrah for Oscar in best foreign film

Italian cinema could experience a rebirth with the filmGomorrah”, currently on its way to America.
The Italian film in the US will have advanced screenings, with Gomorrah showing in some cinemas in December.
The film’s Italian director Matteo Garrone, has stated that this is a move that will include the film in the next Academy Awards, as official release is set for February.

With Gomorrah in the running for the best foreign film, Martin Scorsese and Oliver Stone (writer for Scarface) were present at a pre-screening.
Garrone has said: ” Who knows what Stone would have thought of the explicit references to that film that Marco and Ciro have done in Gomorra.
”It will be interesting to see how the film fares, and if nominated, in which categories.
