Issuing a Card in Rugby

Dear Editor, CIARÁN GLEESON from Blackrock, Co Dublin, concurs with Gerry Thornley’s assertion in his article of 22nd October, “Twenty-minute red card undermines World Rugby’s campaign to make the game safer”, that the 20-minute Red card is not a suitable representation for Rugby. Thornley even proposed that it should be dubbed a 20-minute Yellow card. However, GLEESON offers a compromise suggestion by including the term 20-minute Amber card, which he believes might be a better fit. He also emphasises that the concept of forgiveness and a red card do not align appropriately in the context of the game.
