Later this year, voters in the UK will participate in a general election. Current polling data suggest that the Labour party, led by Keir Starmer, is set to outperform the Conservatives, indicating that Starmer could potentially step into the role of prime minister.
Just recently, Starmer has taken the initiative to express his intent to “revamp Britain”, revealing his supposed initial actions should Labour prove victorious in the upcoming election. He intends these sentiments to show that Labour has the capacity to administer the country effectively.
For many in Ireland, Starmer is someone they aren’t rather familiar with. However, considering the recent unfavourable UK-Irish connections, the prospect of a more positive future under a Labour-headed administration is an interesting thought.
In this episode of “In the News”, we delve into who Keir Starmer truly is and how an administration under his command would impact Ireland? We have London-based journalist, Mark Paul, providing an overview of the man who is potentially guiding the Labour party to a win in the imminent UK general election.
