Irish Water and Incentive Practices

Dear Editor,

It has come to light that in 2023, Irish Water company, Uisce Éireann, decided to hike its staff bonuses by a notable 17 per cent, pushing the total over €10 million. All the while, 350 of their employees are enjoying annual salaries ranging between €100,000 and €200,000.
This is happening in a context where the firm shows a tremendous loss of 40 per cent of its product due to leakages (equating to 625 million litres per day). The company also hands out boil-water advisories almost each week.
As it appears, the liberal spending of taxpayers’ finances is not restricted to the Office of Public Works alone.

Yours sincerely,
Charles McLaughlin,
Portobello.
