The number of jobless people in Ireland grew slightly in July, according to a Tuesday report from the Central Statistics Office (CSO). Despite the increase, the nation’s unemployment figures continue to be relatively low compared to past records. Unemployment grew from 4.5% in June to 4.7% in July, the highest since March 2022, as per the newest data.
As of July, the CSO’s labour market analysis division reported 136,100 unemployed individuals, up from June’s 129,000, stated statistician Conor Delves. Delves noted the number of unemployed individuals had increased by 16,200 since July 2023 after adjusting the figures for usual seasonal fluctuations.
Furthermore, young job-seekers also saw a rise in unemployment. The youth unemployment rate climbed from 10.4% to 11.4% in July, according to CSO data.
