Irish Tech Entrepreneur Attends Trump Fundraiser

Has Eoghan McCabe, the CEO of Intercom, pivoted his stand to back Donald Trump’s presidential ambitions? McCabe, who had earlier expressed strong disapproval of the Trump administration’s 2017 Muslim travel ban, was seen in a recent image on a social media platform operated by Musk, posing with the ex-president, now a declared offender, at a fundraising occasion organised by well-known entrepreneur and tech investor, David Sacks, based in San Francisco.

The event collected a substantial $12 million (£9.4 million) on behalf of Trump, reportedly with contributions from the likes of the Winklevoss twins and venture capitalist Shervin Pishevar. McCabe, seen beaming in the image next to Trump against the backdrop of an American flag, has purportedly met six individuals at the function whom he claimed had never identified as Republicans, but had previously supported the Democrats with votes and donations. Now, they are rallying behind Trump due to his policies related to war, migration, cryptocurrencies, and more. McCabe presented this shift as a response to these issues.

Musk, the owner of the social media platform, found McCabe’s post “interesting,” while others were not as appreciative. Interestingly, while highlighting Trump’s immigration policy, McCabe seemed to have grown out of his earlier disquiet around the same issue. Once expressing his disagreement on a blog post in January 2017, saying, “We abhor this and any policy of hate and discrimination… If you make it the land of the free no more, you kill the allure…,” it seems the CEO might have found a way to overlook Trump’s previous controversial immigration policy if the latest post is any indication.
