“Irish Rider O’Regan Dies in Manx Crash”

The Manx Grand Prix is set to continue on Monday evening on the Isle of Man, following the tragic demise of Louis O’Regan, an Irish motorcyclist, during a weekend qualifying session. The event organisers conveyed their deep sympathies to his relatives and acquaintances in an issued statement. The inaugural session did not resume post the red flag situation stemming from an accident at Kate’s Cottage, closer to the 30-mile mark in the 37-mile raceround on Sunday.

The race coordinators confirmed the heartbreaking loss in their declaration, detailing that the 43-year-old Irish participant, now a resident of Didcot, England, succumbed to injuries sustained during a mishap at Kate’s Cottage during the kickoff qualifier of the 2024 tournament. O’Regan, a seasoned contender in the Manx Grand Prix, first competed in the 2013 Newcomers A Race where he took 12th place.

He set his personal record for fastest lap in the 2019 Junior Race, achieving an average speed of 114.7mph. The organisers send their deepest condolences to Sarah, O’Regan’s partner, his family and friends. Unfortunately, this incident was not the first of its kind. The Grand Prix, due to end next Monday, was tainted last year too when 69-year-old Iain Bainbridge, who debuted at the race in 2005, lost his life during a qualifying session.
