“Irish Professional Accounting Bodies Merge”

Chartered Accountants Ireland has successfully unified with Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Ireland, thereby forming the most extensive professional organisation for this industry in the nation. The unification indicates that all previous members of the two groups are now unified under the Chartered Accountants Ireland identity – this development occurring subsequent to a blending proposal put forward in February.

Chartered Accountants Ireland’s president, Barry Doyle expressed a warm welcome to all new students and employees to the institute. He mentioned that the union marks the epitome of active dialogue with members as well as collective efforts to realise a mutual vision for the future of the profession.

In his sentiments, he showed gratitude towards the members for their contribution and feedback which have set the groundwork for a fresh phase in their history. He also expressed his eagerness towards strengthening relationships with members in the impending months.

Chartered Accountants Ireland, in its everyday operations, interacts with various interested parties, including government institutions, business associations, and decision-makers, discussing matters specific to the profession and wider economic issues.

With representation of over 38,400 members across almost 100 countries, and providing education to about 6,600 students, Chartered Accountants Ireland is one of the 20 largest professional accounting bodies globally. Established by the Royal Charter in 1888, it is also part of a formidable international network group, Chartered Accountants Worldwide, which boasts 1.8-million members.

Additionally, the company is actively involved in worldwide organisations such as Global Accounting Alliance, Accountancy Europe, and the International Federation of Accountants.

CPA Ireland had a membership comprising roughly 5,000 professionals and students.
