Ireland’s November Opponents Confirmed: NZ, Australia, Argentina, Fiji

In this year’s Autumn Nations Series, Ireland will face-off against New Zealand, Australia, Argentina, and Fiji. The series will kick off with a highly anticipated match featuring the All Blacks visiting the Aviva Stadium on November 8th, redoing their World Cup quarter-final match from the previous year. The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) confirmed the schedule after it was initially announced by New Zealand Rugby last month.

Following the All Blacks fixture, Ireland will host Argentina a week after on yet another Friday evening. Argentina’s visit will be followed by Fiji’s on Saturday, November 23rd. A showdown with Australia is planned as the last match in this international period, with Joe Schmidt at the helm of the Wallabies. The IRFU’s 150th challenge match will be the game against the Wallabies on November 30th.

Andy Farrell, the Ireland coach, expressed his excitement about the upcoming games, citing them as a chance to compete against “four hugely talented sides.” Farrell further underlined the added significance of this Autumn Series, with the fourth match against Australia marking the 150th celebration of the IRFU in a memorable Test series.

The last confrontation between Ireland and Australia was in November 2022, where Ireland emerged victorious by a narrow margin of 13-10, led by Jack Crowley’s debut. Furthermore, the Irish team achieved a 35-17 win against Fiji during the same year. The last encounter with Argentina, currently coached by ex-Leinster number 10 Felipe Contepomi, was in Dublin in 2021 and ended with a resounding 53-7 triumph for Ireland.
