Interview with Arie Vos: Dutch Superbike Champion

The friendly Dutchman Arie Vos won again the Dutch Superbike Championship.
Twowheelsblog spoke to him:Arie VosChampion Open Dutch Superbike Class”, how does it feel?It feels great, although it is the fifth championship in three years for me.
This one is very special because at the beginning of the season a lot of people thought that I didn’t have a chance to defend my title due to the switch from Honda to Ducati.

But from the start of the season it went very well.
The Fabricom-MCT Racing Ducati ran the whole season perfectly.
To win the title in my first year with Ducati feels superb! I’ve shown everybody that I can win also on another bike than a Honda.
That was also the reason why I was so motivated from the start of the season.
Was it a difficult year for you?At the beginning of the season everything was new, not only for me, but for the whole team.
But that didn’t give me any problems.
From race one I was fighting for the wins.

The mechanics have done a superb job.
I have to give them a big compliment.
It’s the first time for Ducati to win this championship?Yes, that is true.
It is the first time that Ducati has won a Dutch championship.
The first race I won this year, at Eemshaven, was also the first win for Ducati in this championship.
All these reasons make this title so special.
Does the Ducati ride different? Do you need a different style to ride the bike?To switch from a four cylinder bike to a twin is not easy, but due to the great work of my team it took nearly no time to learn how to ride this bike.
I rode fast from the first test to the last race so it can’t be better! What model from Ducati are you riding, can you tell us about the tuning?I’m riding with a 1098R.
The engine is exactly the same as any bike you can buy in a store.
The most important thing is to tune up the mapping of the fuel injection and the inflammation in the right way.
Also the tune up of the suspension is very very important, much more important than to have a very fast engine.
My bike isn’t the fastest from the starting field of the Dutch Superbike but it rides so perfectly and that is the key you have to find.
Do you have plans for next year? What are your expectations?Yes, at the moment we are planning to start in the International German Championship and compete sometimes in the Dutch Superbike.
I’ve won five titles in three years so I’m looking for more competition.
And I want to ride as much as possible.
With Ducati it is not possible to start in the Supersport anymore.
In Germany there are, like World Superbike, two races on Sunday and you have more practise time.
I hope that we can ride next year some good races with beautiful challenges.
And of course, I want to be on the rostrum at the end of the race! You will keep on riding with Ducati?Yes, there is a very big chance that I will ride next year again with Ducati.
How large is the team?At the moment we there are 3 riders, the two others are Ronald ter braake and Ghisbert van Ginhoven, young and talented riders.
You are also riding Endurance?Yes, I’ve started this year in the 8 Hours of Suzuka and the 8 Hours from Francorchamps.
Last year I rode also at Losail the 8 Hours.
Do you have a website?Yes, I have two websites, the first is my racing site and the other is my motor store, Voss Oss motoren.
Some words for the Twowheelsblog visitors?Have a lot of fun on the bike and when you want to know more about me, you’re always welcome to see me racing, wherever, whenever.
Or come to my motor store and check out the Ducati 848 Arie Vos-replica!
