Dear Editor,
The current crisis in the teaching profession could have been avoided had the proper measures been undertaken in the past. Instead of furnishing teachers with full-time roles and long-term contracts, a policy appears to have been employed that limits them to part-time working hours and sporadic employment contracts. In my capacity as an officer for the Teachers’ Union of Ireland over a considerable period, I have keenly observed the execution of this policy.
Yours sincerely,
Alec Quinn,
Limerick.
