Ryanair announced an 8% surge in passenger traffic in August, marking a record month as over 20 million people chose to fly with the carrier. This has propelled the total passenger count to 192 million, taking into consideration the travellers onboard Ryanair during the 12 month-span ending in August. This figure shows an increase from the 177.4 million passengers recorded over the same period in 2023.
The load factor, an indicator of flight capacity utilisation, remained unchanged at 96 percent for the month of August, while the year-to-date figure stood at 94 percent.
In August 2024 alone, Ryanair operated more than 111,800 flights. The company also confirmed that the slump in demand had begun to plateau. Last week, CEO Michael O’Leary dismissed fears of air fares dropping by a two-digit percentage over the summer, stating that the decrease had been limited to around 5 percent.
Simultaneously, it was highlighted that the State’s climate goals for 2030 would not be achieved unless more investment is made towards renewable energy sources. Changes have also been made to the script on the RTÉ Player, although further improvements are required.
