Swedish furniture retailer Ikea is poised to enlarge its Irish footprint, with a new plan-and-order outpost slated to open in Sligo, northwest of the State. This debut location in the northwest is set to commence operations on April 19th at the Canopy shopping complex, providing employment for four associates.
Additional three outlets are on the cards to launch throughout the coming year, augmenting the existing ones in Naas, Cork, Drogheda, Carlow, the St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, and Carrickmines in Dublin.
The plan-and-order outlets, with a size smaller than Ikea’s click-and-collect stores in Ireland, offer customers the ability to utilise Ikea’s customised kitchen and wardrobe planning amenities. These offer customers assistance in design, planning, and set up of Ikea fittings. Moreover, customers can conveniently order Ikea’s complete product assortment for direct home delivery.
Ikea Ireland’s market manager, Martyn Allan, shared his excitement about bringing a taste of Swedish design and budget-friendly home solutions to new Irish regions which have so far been untouched by Ikea’s physical presence. Allan feels these locations are the perfect conduit for providing assistance to those living remotely from their Ballymun store, be it for ordering their new sofa, wardrobe, or any other Ikea offering.
Ikea maintains two stores on the Irish isles, one each in Ballymun, Dublin and Belfast, complemented by 10 click-and-collect points scattered throughout the Republic.
The augmentation of its plan-and-order branches coincides with the firm’s ongoing strategy of lowering prices in response to deflating inflation rates. To add, Ikea has unveiled markdowns on an additional 300 articles, thereby increasing the tally of long-term price reductions to over 2,200.
