Identity Revealed of Carlow Assault Victim, a Father of Two

A local man, known as Darren Quigley, aged 30, who was a father to two daughters, tragically lost his life following a brutal attack in Carlow town, specifically New Oak Estate, on Monday night. Mr Quigley was found critically injured, following an alert to which local police responded at a residence in the same community just beyond 11.40pm.

He received initial treatment on site before being urgently transported to St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny. Unfortunately, his death was announced shortly after his arrival. Mr Quigley leaves behind both his parents and two children.

Not long after the incident, a woman in her 30s was taken into custody as part of local police forces and the Armed Response Unit’s subsequent operation within Carlow town. The suspect, a Carlow local who was acquainted with Mr Quigley, is being held for further interrogation, local police confirmed.

The police are currently exploring the possibility of the incident being drug-related. The crime scene has been secured for thorough forensic analysis. Additionally, the State Pathologist’s services have been called for.

Senior police management have designated a Senior Investigating Officer to spearhead the probe into the incident. They have also ensured the provision of a Family Liaison Officer. The police have stated that they are not currently seeking any other individuals linked to the case.
