Dear Editor, – Red C, a renowned polling firm, undertook a poll involving 1,000 participants concerning the medical intricacies of neurodivergence (“Research indicates one in ten associates themselves with neurodivergence”, News, March 22nd). This statistic for neurodivergence encompasses individuals who self-identify as neurodivergent based solely on their own “self-assessment”. The interpretation of this method remains unclear.
Wouldn’t it be feasible to undertake a legitimate study in this field rather than having a polling firm ask ordinary folk whether they perceive themselves as neurodivergent? Could this approach be too laborious? – Yours faithfully,
DAVE SLATER,
Kilkea,
