Scotland Yard has reported the discovery of human remains at a west London residential property during an investigation into the finding of body parts of two men in suitcases near Bristol’s Clifton Suspension Bridge. On the 12th of July, Metropolitan police officials found additional human remains at a flat on Scotts Road, W12, which are currently being removed for further forensic examination.
These remains found in London are believed to be linked to the ones found earlier in Bristol, both believed to be related to two male victims. While investigators believe they have identified the deceased, formal confirmation is still outstanding. Efforts are underway to notify their kin.
A male suspect, 36, was taken into custody on July 12 from a Greenwich address. However, this arrestee is different from the man who has been publicly sought in connection to the case.
The man seen disposing the suitcases on the bridge, identified now as 24-year-old Colombian, Yostin Andres Mosquera, is known to both victims, according to the police. Investigators from Avon and Somerset and the Met believe that the suspect travelled from London to Bristol on the day of the incident. Consequently, the Met has taken charge of the investigation.
As law enforcement continue their manhunt for Mosquera, a designated crime scene has been established in Shepherd’s Bush, west London. Police have yet to confirm whether the suspect is still in the Avon and Somerset area. An ambulance arrived on the Shepherd’s Bush scene at 18:30.
In a search headed by Acting Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine from the Metropolitan Police, the foremost objective has been the location and apprehension of Yostin Andres Mosquera. The Met has requested public assistance in providing any information about Mosquera’s current location.
Concurrently, detectives in both Bristol and London are diligently pursuing varied leads as part of this rapidly unfolding investigation. The suspect, who the police have detailed as bearded, was last seen attired in black jeans, a black jacket bearing a design, and black trainers with chunky white soles. He also wore a black-and-white Adidas cap, a gold earring, and was carrying a black backpack.
Late Wednesday night, at 11:57 pm, law enforcement from Avon and Somerset were alerted to a man behaving suspiciously on a local bridge. They arrived on-site within 10 minutes of getting the report, however, the man had already left the scene but left behind one suitcase. Additional human remains were discovered in a second suitcase found in close vicinity shortly after.
Reece Wright, a pupil of the University of Bristol, informed the BBC that he had been in the vicinity of the bridge with a companion on said Wednesday evening. He reported seeing what they believed to be blood on the bridge’s walkway. Wright went on to describe how they noticed a commotion behind them, witnessing a cyclist angrily chasing a man who was hurriedly trying to escape.
Wright has since said that one of the abandoned suitcases, a blue one with two broken wheels, had a red liquid seeping from the zip, which they later identified as blood. He described the scene as very distressing.
The historic bridge, an Isambard Kingdom Brunel design that was inaugurated in 1864 and has a daily traffic of approximately 11,000 to 12,000 vehicles, was reopened on Thursday after being closed for a period of over 24 hours.
Information, other than sightings, can be reported to the Avon and Somerset Police on 0800 056 0944 or through their major incident public portal.
