How addiction occurs
Becoming addicted to someone can happen in a number of ways, if you have been in a relationship with someone for a number of years and that person decides enough is enough and wants to leave the relationship it can often feel like a piece of you leaves with them. Alternatively it could be that someone new starts in your work place and they appear on the surface to tick all the boxes for you, they are in your eyes perfect.
First steps in breaking addiction
When considering how to break your addiction to a person and prevent it consuming your life. The first thing you need to understand is that this person is simply human, so you have to remove them from the pedestal you have placed them upon. Secondly you have to put into perspective their interest in you. If you have made your feelings clear to them and have then been rejected this is the time to examine why you would from that point on peruse this any further.
The chameleon effect
Of course there are things you could try to change their mind; you could be brunette and you’ve overhead in conversation that their last partner was a blonde, you could try bleaching your hair. They are into a certain band, you could try listening to their music and try and learn more about what makes them tick. You could find out where they go out in the evening with their friends and conveniently turn up there.
Gaining clarity
The upshot of this is you are adapting yourself to suit them, creating if you will a fake persona, which is all very well but how long can you keep this up for? It’s an awful lot of effort and the cracks will soon show. Someone has to like you for you, and really if they don’t why would you even want to be with them in the first place? You deserve to be in a relationship where your feelings are reciprocated with someone who appreciates you for who you really are.
