In a tragic event that unfolded in Dublin on Christmas Eve, Jason Hennessy snr was fatally wounded during a restaurant shooting. His son, Brandon Hennessy, aged 21, is set to face trial for violent disorder in the Special Criminal Court. Alongside him, seven other participants will also be held accountable.
In a bid for justice, state solicitor, Ciara Vibien, petitioned for Brandon Hennessy’s trial at the three-judge, non-jury court this Monday morning. The address given was Sheephill, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15.
The fatal meal on Christmas Eve was meant to be a time of celebration for Jason Hennessy snr. The 48-year-old enjoyed dinner with loved ones before the fatal gun assault. His fight for life ended in despair as he succumbed to his injuries 11 days later in hospital.
The alleged gunman, Tristan Sherry, aged 26, passed away from severe head injuries. The injuries were allegedly sustained after shooting Mr Hennessy snr at Browne’s Steakhouse in Blanchardstown.
Charged with the allegation of being involved in violent disorder, Brandon Hennessy is accused of resorting to or threatening aggression which led to panic and fear amongst others, in conflict with Section 15 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994.
David Amah (18), Michael Andrecut (22), Noah Musueni (18), and Wayne Deegan (25) have all been charged with murder charges. Jaures Kumbu (18) has been accused of illegal possession of a submachine gun at the steakhouse.
In addition, a teenage boy (17) and Jonas Kabangu (18) are facing charges of violent disorder that took place at the steakhouse. Kabangu’s residence details haven’t been disclosed for safety-related reasons.
Set for July 16th, the Special Criminal Court, headed by Mr Justice Tony Hunt and accompanied by Mr Justice Paul Burns and Judge Sinead Ní Chúlacháin, has postponed the case till then, when all related issues will be brought to the forefront.
