Graham, a civil engineering and building firm based in Hillsborough, Co Down, has emerged as the top contender for a substantial overhaul contract at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), stadium owner currently celebrating its 210th year, will collaborate with Graham for the project. The redevelopment will incorporate at least 1,100 more seats by transforming the Tavern Stand and replacing the current Allen Stand with a modern variant.
Rob Joyce, Graham’s development director, expressed his excitement about the transformative endeavour at Lord’s Cricket Ground. He asserted that their collaboration with MCC would result in state-of-the-art sports infrastructure while honouring the eminent heritage of the established venue. Their objective encompasses elevating spectators’ experience, amplifying capacity, and commencing a new epoch at the cricket sanctuary.
Graham, a group that last year amassed revenues surpassing £1 billion (€1.2 billion), reassured that the Lord’s would maintain operations through the redevelopment, causing minimum disturbance and ensuring continuous audience access during the 2025 and 2026 seasons. St John’s Wood venue has undergone several alterations recently, such as the establishment of the new Edrich and Compton stands in 2021 and the Warner Stand adjacent to the historical pavilion in 2017.
