Graham Rowntree departs from Munster

Munster’s lead coach, Graham Rowntree, has concluded his tenure according to an announcement made by the province on Tuesday morning. The milestone decision was a result of mutual consensus as stated on Munster’s official website.

Ian Flanagan, Chief Executive of Munster Rugby expressed gratitude for Rowntree’s unwavering commitment and zeal to Munster Rugby during his five-year tenure. He extended his best wishes for the future to Rowntree and his family on behalf of the entire Munster Rugby organisation.

Rowntree will vacate his role immediately and Ian Costello will assume the position of temporary head coach.

Reflecting on his journey at Munster, Rowntree stated, “I have had the pleasure of working with an exceptionally gifted group of players and coaching staff during my time in Munster.” While expressing his gratitude to the extended Munster family for their, he acknowledged that it was the right moment for him and his family to embrace a new beginning.

The recent performance of Munster in the United Rugby Championship this season has been lacklustre with just two victories out of the initial six matches. The team has fallen to their opponents in the past three games including Leinster, the Stormers, and the Sharks.
