Grab your slice of film history: The Banshees of Inisherin’s tavern is now on the market

After featuring in the Banshees of Inisherin, the renowned JJ Devine’s bar, which served as the backdrop for the tense relationship between characters played by Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, is now potentially changing ownership. The bar, now held within Mee’s Pub in Kilkerrin, County Galway, has been opened up for potential buyers.

Self-proclaimed as “a commemorative spot for the iconic movie”, Mee’s Pub accommodates the reconstructed set of JJ Devine’s which was meticulously transported piece by piece from Achill following the completion of Martin McDonagh’s banner movie, Banshees, thanks to a connection of the Mee family who was a part of the Oscar-nominated film’s crew.

The recreation was careful to replicate every detail encapsulated in the movie’s bar setting, including the window panes. Since then, the establishment has evolved into a popular local point of interest, even boasting a resident donkey, although its association with Jenny from the Banshees remains unclear.

The asking price for Mee’s, which also features a shop and living quarters, has yet to be disclosed.
