Finance Minister, Michael McGrath, has confirmed that the government is in continuous dialogue with tech giant Intel regarding its growth strategies, though he refrained from making any comments on reports pertaining to a potential €10 billion investment by the company in Ireland until any deal is formally sealed. He refrained from making these comment during a recent meeting in Brussels. It is also known that Intel is in exclusive discussions with Apollo Global to finance a chip manufacturing facility in Ireland costing approximately $11 billion (€10 billion), as reported by the Financial Times.
Speaking on the matter, Minister McGrath noted the significance of Intel as a pivotal ally of IDA Ireland and the Irish government, adding that there had been persisting conversations over recent months concerning their potential development strategies. These conversations have spanned the importance of private sector funding as well as the support the government, facilitated by IDA Ireland, could extend to the company, he elaborated.
Minister McGrath mentioned that the government is eager to lend support to essential firms like Intel, whose innovations significantly contribute to the nation’s economic achievements. He added that there is an established continuous dialogue between the government, IDA Ireland, and Intel in regards to their future growth strategies.
