“Goodman’s ABP Reveals €28.5m Scottish Investment”

ABP Food Group, led by Larry Goodman, has revealed a significant investment of £24.5 million (€28.5 million) for the enhancement of its Perth-based beef processing plant in Scotland. The funding will facilitate development which includes a sizeable 2,800sq m extension, extensive upgrades and refurbishment to the meat manufacturing and maturation sections, storage spaces and staff amenities. This project has also allowed for the creation of 80 new positions.

ABP UK division’s managing director, Bob Carnell, expressed that the plant has been dramatically overhauled to become one of the most sophisticated and cutting-edge facilities of its ilk across the UK. The refurbished plant is now poised to make a substantial contribution in the quest to open up more opportunities for Scottish red meat within the food retail and service industry across Scotland, the UK, as well as in foreign export markets.

In addition to the Perth plant, ABP operates two other facilities in Bridge of Allan and Queenslie near Glasgow, respectively, both of which were purchased from Scotbeef in the previous year. ABP’s Scottish operations now consist of a workforce of 836, collaborating with 2,200 local farmers.

In total, the ABP Food Group employs over 13,000 individuals, manages processing locations in nine countries and has reported a turnover of €5 billion.
