"Multiple fatalities" in Glasgow city centre, three people believed stabbed to death. Police confirmed that a policeman was among the injured.
Armed police intervened in West George Street in Glasgow in a mass stabbings attack. It is believed that three people have been killed.
According to local reports”around 20 police vehicles, armed officers, sniffer dogs and riot shields” have flooded the centre of the Scottish city. Three people are believed to have been stabbed to death in a stairwell to a hotel in Glasgow city centre.
The Scottish Police Federation has confirmed that a male suspect has been shot dead. Also a police officer was stabbed. The families of injured have been informed. Greater Glasgow Police said via Twitter: “Emergency services are currently dealing with an incident on West George Street in Glasgow.
“The street is currently closed off and the public are asked to avoid the area at present. The situation is contained at this time and there is no danger to the general public.”
Witness Craig Milroy who was in an office building nearby, said he had seen four people taken away in ambulances. He told the PA news agency: “I saw a man lying on the ground, of African descent, with no shoes on. He was on the ground with someone holding his side – I don’t know if it was a bullet wound, a stab wound, or what it was.”
