Giusy Ferreri vs Rino Gaetano: Ferreri new album does rock anthem cover of “Il cielo è sempre più blu”

Italy’s hot singing success Giusy Ferreri is releasing a new album, following her extremely popular first album “Gaetana”.
The second album is entitled “Fotografie” and includes a cover of Italy’s rock anthem “Ma il cielo è sempre più blu” (”The sky is always bluer”).
If you’ve ever been to a disco in Italy, this is one of those songs where the Italians hit the dance floor to jump up and down like crazed meerkats and sing their heads off.

Meaning that it’s a tall order for any artist wanting to do a cover of one of the most popular songs in the last 30 years of Italian music history.
Despite some skepticism, Giusy Ferreri has got the voice for it and pulls it off very well.
She said about the song: “Interpreting this song was not easy by any means.
The great Rino Gaetano used to sing this track with extreme truth, mixed with sarcasm and a timbre of voice that seemed like a slap in the face of the society he was recounting.
Reinterpreting this song today means understanding that the themes he was singing about are still, unfortunately, current, and I tried to sing his words with all the irony, anger, energy and depth I could muster.

I hope I’ve managed that.
”Above is the original videoclip from Rino Gaetano and after the jump, you can hear Giusy Ferreri’s very accomplished interpretation with a few lyrics from the song to give you an idea of its theme.
More from her new album, Fotografie, to come.
