“Girl Saved From Mudslide, Seven Dead in Brazil”

In Brazil, torrential rainfall has resulted in the unfortunate death of at least seven individuals, as announced by officials this past Saturday. After enduring 16 plus hours amidst the rubble, a girl of just four years old was miraculously rescued in Petropolis, a city situated approximately 69km north of Rio de Janeiro.

Due to the imminent threat of additional landslides, operations on Friday came to an abrupt halt. The young girl’s survival is credited to her late father, who courageously used his own body as a shield when their home collapsed. This heroic tale was relayed through statements other rescue team members made.

A sorrowful note is that three more individuals lost their lives in the same location. The local populace had been cautioned since Thursday about the looming risks due to anticipated weekend weather conditions. Firefighters confronting the challenge of reaching those affected by the harsh rain found it especially challenging in areas already identified as precarious.

As part of the rescue mission, sniffer dogs were utilized. Nearly 100 individuals were pulled from the wreckage to safety as per the authorities’ declaration.
