Georgia Hall Among Solheim Cup Wildcards

Georgia Hall, an English golfer, has been chosen as one of the four wildcard picks for her fifth consecutive Solheim Cup by team captain Suzann Pettersen. Hall, aged 28, narrowly missed gaining automatic entry into the team and is joined by fellow English player Charley Hull. The Norwegian captain also picked Anna Nordqvist from Sweden and Emily Kristine Pedersen from Denmark both of whom were a part of the victorious faction from last year’s tournament in Andalucía, with Nordqvist reprising her role as vice-captain.

Two newcomers, Albane Valenzuela from Switzerland and automatic qualifier Esther Henseleit from Germany, are set to make their European representation debut when the contest kicks off at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia on September 13th.

Leona Maguire from Ireland is slated to appear in her third Solheim Cup performance, having previously amassed 7½ points out of a possible 10.

The European Solheim Cup team features: Celine Boutier (France), Carlota Ciganda (Spain), Linn Grant (Sweden), Esther Henseleit (Germany), Georgia Hall (England), Charley Hull (England), Leona Maguire (Ireland), Anna Nordqvist (Sweden), Emily Kristine Pedersen (Denmark), Madelene Sagstrom (Sweden), Maja Stark (Sweden), and Albane Valenzuela (Switzerland). Among these, the wildcard picks are marked by an asterisk (*).
