The recent coverage of events in Gaza has once more left me emotionally shattered. How is it that as human beings we allow conflict to harm innocent children? While the state of humanity often evokes feelings of hopelessness in me, there remains a beacon of light – the unfaltering valour, bravery and empathy displayed by humanitarian aid workers and healthcare professionals tirelessly striving to alleviate the suffering in battle-scarred regions around the globe. The feeling of helplessness is omnipresent, but it is crucial that we, at the absolute minimum, extend our support to international medical charities however possible.
