“Four Injured in Omagh Arson”

Four individuals received treatment for inhaling smoke after a deliberate act of fire-setting at a residence in County Tyrone. The investigating detectives believe that an incendiary fluid had been redirected through the property’s letter hole on Wednesday in Omagh.

Two adults and two children are understood to have been present in the property during the incident. The representative of the PSNI mentioned that a fire report at a Winters Grove area property was received just before 3.45 a.m.

In attendance were officers along with their Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service counterparts who succeeded in extinguishing the fire—supposedly instigated after directing incendiary fluid through the letter hole.

The four persons in the house at the incident time received smoke inhalation treatment on site from associates of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. The fire aftermath left considerable damage to the property’s interior.

The representative further labelled the incident as utterly reckless, voicing gratitude to their fire service colleagues for tending to this potentially seriously consequential fire. An investigation is in progress and all relevant observations are desired including CCTV, dash-cam or mobile phone footage. These can be reported by dialling 101 and referring to number 187 of 03/04/24.

Stephen Donnelly, a councillor from the Alliance Party, condemned the thoughtless assault. He commented that this truly horrific incident must be vigorously criticised and there is no tolerance for such utterly thoughtless actions in their community. He expressed solidarity with the affected family, remarking that it is fortunate nobody suffered serious harm, however the residential damage was extensive and could easily have resulted in a worse outcome. He encouraged citizens with any possibly useful information to contact the PSNI or report via Crimestoppers anonymously.
