In connection with a fire incident at an abandoned hotel, located in Co Galway during the previous December, four individuals have been taken into custody. The Ross Lake House hotel in Rosscahill was previously assigned to provide shelter to 70 refugees seeking asylum.
Two males, with ages ranging from their 40s to 50s, have been seized because of suspected violations against the Criminal Damage Act 1991 and are currently in detention under the Criminal Justice Act of 1984, under Section 4. Moreover, two females of similar ages have been taken into custody for suspected violations related to the Offences Against the State (Amendment) Act 1998, and are currently being held under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.
All these individuals are being held at a Garda station in the northwestern region. A successful operation carried out by Garda led to their capture, which took place on a Thursday morning.
