Ford hits 2 million sales in the US for the year 2011

Ford has managed to sell 2 million cars in the U.
S.
this year, making it the best-selling car brand in America.
No other manufacturer has hit the 2 million mark in the States in recent years, since Ford itself did it in 2007.
Commenting on the achievement, Ford’s sales analysis manager Erich Merkle said: “Ford’s line-up of high-quality, fuel-efficient cars, utilities and trucks continues to attract more and more new customers.

With gasoline prices tracking higher than last year, customers continue to move toward smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles, whether they are passenger cars or utilities.
Ford’s small cars sales are on pace to post an increase of more than 20 percent this year, while its utility vehicles are tracking a 30-percent gain, the company said.
At the end of November 2011, the Ford brand had sold 1,861,178 vehicles in America, representing a 17.
7 % increase over the same period of 2010, whereas Ford’s luxury brand Lincoln sold just 84,802 vehicles through November, recording a 0.
7% drop over the same period of last year.
Ford earlier this decade had eight brands, but has shed all but its primary Ford and its luxury Lincoln brands, with the latter being sold in North America only.

Ford will launch all-new versions of its popular Escape crossover and Fusion sedan next year (both of which sold in excess of 200,000 units this year), so it’s quite possible that the Blue Oval could end 2012 with an even better result.
