“Flu Affects Leona Maguire’s Olympic Challenge”

In the Olympic golf tournament, Leona Maguire admitted she was battling an ailment, resulting in an uncharacteristic last-place finish among those who had played the full 72 holes. With a final score of 23 over in the tournament, Leona managed to maintain her dignity by completing the final round at Le Golf National in Paris with one under par 71.

She confessed to RTÉ that she was not at her best, saying that under normal circumstances, she would have withdrawn from this week’s contest. However, she believes in representing her country, Ireland, till the very end, even if it feels as if the odds are stacked against her.

In her determination to prove that she could challenge the golf course, she was satisfied with shooting under par and used the experience to regain momentum for forthcoming contests.

Meanwhile, Ireland was well-represented by Stephanie Meadow, who finished the tournament in 39th place with two under par in the final round and six over for the tournament. She was pleased with her performance and the support she received from Irish spectators.

The competition was, however, dominated by New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, who was well placed to clinch the title, holding a five-stroke lead with only six holes left.
