A homicide investigation has been initiated by the Gardaí in response to a man’s fatal stabbing in Finglas, Dublin, that occurred this past Sunday. The man, widely identified locally as Mark Carroll (34), was assaulted in a property located in the district of Scribblestown in the early morning. It is presumed that the father of two was visiting the residential property where he got embroiled in a hostile dispute.
As part of an update provided on Monday evening, the Gardaí mentioned their ongoing investigation into all the factors connected to Mr Carroll’s sudden demise, acknowledging that no one has been arrested thus far. An autopsy has already been carried out, though the Gardaí have not disclosed the findings, citing operational purposes.
A senior officer will spearhead the murder inquiry while an investigative headquarters has been set up at the Finglas Garda station, and a plea for witnesses has been reiterated. Gardaí are reportedly pursuing a suspect with a past of criminal activity, who was acquainted with Mr Carroll before his death.
Responding to a call after 1am on Sunday, the Gardaí and emergency personnel discovered Mr Carroll lying severely injured outside the property. Emergency medical technicians attended to him on-site before his transfer via ambulance first to Connolly Hospital and later to Beaumont Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
