In a tragic car crash on the N80 in Co Carlow, a lady in her thirties lost her life, and two gentlemen sustained severe injuries. The fatal incident occurred near the Fighting Cocks eating establishment and watering hole in Ballintrane, at 5.50pm on Monday, involving a car and a van.
The woman, who was operating the vehicle, received emergency aid at the accident site but succumbed to her wounds. The van’s two male occupants were both airlifted to a hospital and are currently under significant medical care.
Forensic collision investigators are conducting an investigation at present and the area continues to be sealed off. Local reroutes are still in effect.
The Gardaí are urging anyone who observed this unfortunate event to step forward. They are particularly interested in dashcam or any other form of video evidence from individuals who were in the vicinity at the time of the crash.
