“Ex-RTÉ Northern Editor Tommie Gorman Dies”

Tommie Gorman, a former journalist with RTÉ, has passed away at 68 years old. A native of Co Sligo, Mr Gorman is known for his role as a European correspondent and later as the Northern editor for RTÉ. One of his most notable pieces was an interview with Roy Keane, the captain of Ireland, during the 2002 Saipan World Cup scandal. In 2021, he stepped back from his role at RTÉ and published a memoir in 2022 – Never Better: My Life in our Times. Mr Gorman faced a longstanding and public battle with cancer. In an issued statement, his family shared that he passed away whilst in the company of relatives. They described Tommie as a loved husband, father, brother, and friend, whose natural kindness and big-heartedness influenced the lives of everyone who knew him. His memory, they stated, will forever be in their hearts, and his spirit will lead and encourage them every day. Further updates are to follow.
