Ex-Ireland Cricketer Simi Singh Ill

Ex-Ireland all-rounder Simi Singh is grappling with a situation that jeopardises his life. The Indian-origin cricket player, who lent his skills to the Irish team for half a decade playing in 35 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 53 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), last participated in a game in 2022.

Cricket Ireland released a statement on Thursday sending their support to Singh, who according to reports by Times of India, is in need of a liver transplant. Warren Deutrom, Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland voiced profound dismay concerning Singh’s current health ordeal, extending well-wishes on behalf of the organisation and the wider Irish cricket fraternity.

“Simi Singh, having relocated to Ireland, has been a pivotal player in Irish cricket. His eagerness and passion to excel have been evident at every level, be it international, provincial or local club games,” Deutrom said. He proceeded to express his hope that Singh’s resilient spirit will carry him through this challenging time.

“Maintain your strength, Simi, and know we are all rallying behind you,” he added in his message of support.
