“European and Local Election Counts’ Story”

Taoiseach Simon Harris TD was seen with Fine Gael’s Regina Doherty, who successfully secured an MEP position for the Dublin electorate. The photo was taken by Gareth Chaney. At the RDS centre in Dublin, Clare Daly from Independents 4 Change made an appearance. A joyful moment was captured by Conor McKeown when Ciarán Mullooly, from Independent Ireland, celebrated his election for the Midlands-North-West. At the same event, the re-elected MEP Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan was seen holding a Palestinian flag.

In the same vein, Taoiseach Simon Harris was spotted with Nina Carberry and Maria Walsh from Fine Gael at the counting centre in TF Royal Theatre in Castlebar for the Midlands-North-West. Another shot by Brian Lawless showed Mick Wallace after his elimination in the final count at Nemo Rangers GAA club in Cork. At the same venue, Fianna Fáil’s Cynthia Ní Mhurchú and newly elected MEP Billy Kelleher were seen celebrating.

Aside from the candidates, Lynn Boylan from Sinn Féin also made the news as she was elected as an MEP for Dublin, as captured by Gareth Chaney. At the 18th count of the European elections, Kelleher patiently awaited the results along with Tánaiste and party leader Micheál Martin. Lastly, Jonathan Brady captured an unusual sight—a count staff member’s T-shirt during the counting at the Cork centre.
