Bruce Springsteen is in the midst of his Irish tour, having already performed in Belfast and Kilkenny, and is set to continue in Cork at Páirc Uí Chaoimh this coming Thursday, May 16th. Finally, he’ll close his tour in Croke Park, Dublin, on Sunday, May 19th. Over the years, the music icon has sold a million tickets in Ireland, with 350,000 of those sales happening in the past year. His inaugural performance in Ireland was in 1985 at Slane Castle, Co Meath.
Stuart Bailie gave Springsteen’s Belfast performance a five-star rating, stating that it was an incredible show as it paid tribute to departed companions and, in Springsteen’s words, “things that leave us, and what remains”. Bath will be the destination for Springsteen’s next stop this Thursday.
Still looking for an opportunity to attend the show? Despite being officially sold-out, Ticketmaster still has resale tickets for purchase. It’s recommended to only buy tickets from legitimate sellers. Buyers can acquire these at the Marquee Road’s ticket box office, directly across the previous Live at the Marquee venue, which opens at 2 pm on the day of the show.
Páirc Uí Chaoimh is in the Marina section of Cork city. Doors open at the venue at 5 pm with Springsteen and his band going live at 7 pm. Fans should note that there will be no opening act, and Springsteen is expected to perform for around three hours.
Springsteen’s set list is known to be capricious as he often chooses a song to perform from fan-held placards. His setlist from the previous Sunday show in Kilkenny included a solo acoustic pre-show set of “This Hard Land”, “A Rainy Night in Soho” (The Pogues cover), “Candy’s Room”, and “Lonesome Day”.
The set list for the concert includes many fan-favourites like ‘Adam Raised a Cain’, ‘Seeds’, ‘Wrecking Ball’, and ‘The Rising’, among others. An encore is also part of the program and has pieces such as ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’, ‘Born to Run’ and ‘Twist and Shout’. In the second encore, ‘I’ll See You in My Dreams’ will be performed.
To reach Páirc Uí Chaoimh, where the concert is taking place, it is recommended to make use of public transportation services as it’s a mere 20-minute stroll from both the Parnell Place bus station and Kent train station. Request the bus driver to stop at Ballintemple located on Blackrock Road, which is close to the Páirc Uí Chaoimh stadium. The 202 bus route is highly suggested. You can schedule your route to the stadium from any location within Ireland by visiting transportforireland.ie.
Please keep in mind that due to traffic rerouting around the venue, it might not be possible to park, drop off, or collect visitors.
For entrance and navigation within the venue, use the coloured-coded routes mentioned on your ticket. There will be signs to guide concert-goers to the right entrance, corresponding to their respective colour code. For instance, use the Yellow Route for Centre Park Road, Red Route and Blue Route for Monahan Road with specific access areas.
In case of any road closures before or post the concert, updates will be provided on garda.ie.
Lastly, entry requirements involve downloading your digital tickets from your Ticketmaster account onto your iPhone or Google Pay wallet before show day. Please remember that screenshots or printed versions of digital tickets won’t be accepted.
Those under 14 years of age are barred from accessing the standing/pitch area and they are only granted access to the designated seating sections. Patrons under 16 years can only attend when accompanied by an adult above 18 years. Children below 14 years are expected to hold seating area tickets since they’ll be refused entry to the standing or pitch zones. Six-year-olds and below will not be granted entry. Everyone seeking to gain access to the stadium must present a valid pass.
One may wonder if it is plausible to line up at the venue earlier than usual. This, however, is not allowed. Those with valid passes need to keep in mind that they have to respect the privacy and tranquillity of the nearby residents and businesses.
Many people often question what they can carry or not carry to the concert. Certain items are strictly forbidden. These include flag poles, sticks for banners, and selfie sticks. Other prohibited items comprise umbrellas, cameras with removable lenses, bottles, flasks, cans, glass containers, flares, laser apparatus, prams, inflatable furniture, and folding chairs. As a piece of advice, unless absolutely essential, avoid coming to the concert with a bag in hand. Those without bags will experience a more rapid entry process.
It’s important to note that one cannot exit and re-enter the venue during the day of the event. Once you’ve exited, you will not be allowed re-entry.
The weather forecast predicts potential rain showers in the early afternoon. Nevertheless, the evening is forecasted to be warm and sunny with a temperature around 18 degrees when Springsteen takes to the stage at 7 pm. Considering it’s an free-air concert, dressing for wet weather is suggested.
In regards to facilities for wheelchair users, there will be a specially designated zone. However, space may be limited hence checking availability via ticketmaster.ie is recommended.
