Embracing a Fresh Start

Dear Sir,

As we once again immerse ourselves in the season filled with fog and ripe fruits, the humming of a leaf blower is an all-too-common noise. I recently noticed a public worker diligently clearing fallen leaves from the confines of the “official” premises to the surrounding pedestrian pathways. No doubt, the individual believed they had done a commendable job.

Regardless, this minor instance led me to ponder upon the broad range of public amenities and services that are frequently below par, inefficient, and at times, unbearably expensive for the taxpayer.

Undeniably, turning over a new leaf is integral to address the deep-seated issues prevalent in this sector. I urge your readers to pose critical inquiries to their incumbent and potential public reps when they come soliciting votes at their doorstep. However, be cautious of any windbag replies.

Yours sincerely,

Lorcan Brophy,
Maynooth,
Co Kildare.
