The NHS video has been shot at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and urges people to get vaccinated in order to ensure safety for everybody. In the video Elton John and Michael Caine appear to audition for a part in an advert promoting the Covid vaccine. Elton John, now 73 years-old says: “The more people in society that get vaccinated, the more chance there is of eradicating the national Covid pandemic.. It is really important to know that the vaccines have all been through and met the necessary safety and quality standards.” Then, after bein apparently injected he declares: “As you can see, I’m still standing, yeah, yeah, yeah”, a clear reference to his 1983 hit I’m Still Standing.

Sir Michael Caine also pretends to audition for an advert about the vaccine, he apparently gets injected and says: It didn’t hurt– and continues – “Not many people know that”.

Professor Ara Darzi, co-director of the Institute of Global Health Innovation said the choice of Sir Elton and Sir Michael as the new faces of the NHS video was given by the huge trust that the public has for both. He declared: “They were extremely keen to help in any way possible.”
