Elderly Woman Killed by Lorry in Mayo

A female septuagenarian tragically lost her life after a lorry hit her in a supermarket parking lot located in Co Mayo on Thursday. The tragic event took place shortly before midday in the town of Westport when the woman, who was walking, was hit by the lorry. She was declared deceased soon after the incident.

Following the incident, the location was safeguarded and has since been scrutinised by Garda’s forensic traffic investigators. The local Coroner has been informed about the sad event and a post-mortem analysis is being scheduled.

An appeal has been put forth by the Garda, encouraging any witnesses to step forward. Besides, they have requested individuals possessing video footage, specifically drivers with dashboard camera recordings who were in the area during the incident, to share the footage with the investigating officers.
