A gentleman in his sixties has sadly passed away after becoming part of a vehicular accident in Dublin. This incident marks the third fatality on Irish highways this weekend. Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene of the singular vehicle mishap on Upper Churchtown Road, Dundrum, Dublin, around 6.15am of the Sunday morning.
This unfortunate fellow was the driver and was alone in the van at the time of this unfortunate event. His passing was confirmed at the scene. Meanwhile, transition year scholars are being provided with road safety lessons due to the worrying escalation in fatal accidents.
This incident in Dublin is the third deadly event on Irish highways during the weekend. On the preceding Saturday, a young man in his twenties succumbed to injuries he incurred from an accident at Carnew, Co Wicklow. The unfortunate motorcyclist’s death was later confirmed at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
Furthermore, a pedestrian in his forties tragically lost his life in the early hours of Sunday following a collision with a car in Midleton, Co Cork. This took place on the eastbound N25 at Water Rock around 1.30am. The deceased was pronounced dead on site. In light of these occurrences, Gardaí are seeking additional information and are appealing for any witnesses to step forward.
