Elderly Man Arrested for Co Down Murder

An older woman, identified as Patricia ‘Patsy’ Aust, has been found dead at her residence in Co Down, as reported by local police. The discovery of 81-year-old Ms. Aust kept the authorities busy on Sunday evening in the Hawthorne Court region of Bangor. A man in his mid-80s was taken into custody under murder suspicions and remains in police custody.

The PSNI’s lead inspector, Neil McGuinness, remarked that his unit responded to a report of a woman’s death within a dwelling off Clandeboye Road on the evening of June 2nd. Ms. Aust was found deceased at the location. Inspector McGuinness and his team expressed deepest condolences to the family in their hour of grief.

The senior official emphasised that a murder investigation was underway with an 85-year old man in custody, and appealed for any relevant information from the public. Police clarified that they were not on the lookout for more suspects in the case.

Another representative of the Northern Ireland Police Service confirmed that the police received the death report shortly following 5.30pm on the 2nd of June. The officers on site found the woman’s body within the living space of the property. Despite preliminary investigations taking place, the circumstances surrounding her death remain uncertain.
