Elderly Cyclist Dies in Dublin Crash

A tragic accident occurred on Dublin’s Dame Street early Saturday morning, resulting in the death of a cyclist in his seventies. The incident, which involved a collision between a car and a bicycle, saw both emergency services and Gardaí dispatched to the scene at around 5.25am. The cyclist was rushed to St. James’ Hospital but unfortunately didn’t survive. Meanwhile, the car driver is presently being treated for injuries, however, they are not threatening to life.

In order to allow forensic investigators to examine the scene, Dame Street had to be temporarily closed off, but it’s now open to traffic again. In the wake of this incident, Gardaí based at Pearse Street are calling for any witnesses to come forward.

They are especially interested in hearing from road users or pedestrians who were near the vicinity of Dame Street between 5.00am and 5.45am. They are also calling for anyone who may have captured the incident on camera, including dash cam footage, to share it with them to aid in their inquiries.

For sharing information, Pearse Street Garda Station can be contacted directly on 01 666 9000, or alternatively, the Garda Confidential Line is available on 1800 666 111. Information can also be provided at any Garda Station. In other news, a new over 23s nightclub has been unveiled in the centre of Dublin city, promising an experience which they claim will be ‘big, loud, and spectacular’.
