Regarding the recent news of Eir being labelled as a ‘disaster’ by the judiciary following the revelation that the company’s customer service manuals instructed staff to disregard legal protocol (News, April 16th), it really is amusing to observe Eir’s glossy television adverts asserting, “We’re all that matters”, “This is Ireland’s network”, and “This is the network we all deserve”. Personally, I believe it’s glaringly obvious that we are all entitled to a much superior service.
Fortunately, given our inhabitation on this ‘maritime speck’, as Eir so quaintly puts it, we are free to opt for alternative providers who know how to respect their clientele by treating them like customers.
Yours faithfully, Joe Coleman, Dalkey, County Dublin.
It makes one wonder, will Eir ever realise the errors in its conduct? “Please hold.”
Yours sincerely, Paul Delaney, Dalkey, County Dublin.
