A Porter (1) showed relentless tenacity throughout, despite a problematic scrum for Ireland. His belligerency in battle gained him an 8. R Kelleher (2) started off strong with a hit on Kwagga Smith, setting a positive pace. He was perpetually eager to tackle and advance, earning him a 7. T Furlong (3) managed to push RG Snyman back during the half hour mark. Even though he struggled with scrum issues, he was consistent in tackling and going for hard yards, scoring a 7. J McCarthy (4), whilst facing formidable opposition, had some excellent turnovers and contributed plenty of yards through an early carry, drawing a few penalties, but securing a strong rating of 8.

J Ryan yet again proved his mettle on the playing field, working tirelessly across the full pitch. He furthered his contribution in the match by stealing two of Springbok’s lineouts during the crucial moments in the second half. He earns a score of 8.
In another consistent display of dedication, T Beirne once again outdid himself in the game. He gained attention with a notable takedown of Kolisi in the subsequent half; his performance rating stands at 8.
Despite lesser carries in play, J Van der Flier’s commitment and tackle count escalated significantly after Doris received a yellow card. His sport-man spirit earns him a 7.
Quick to scale up his performance after being sanctioned with a yellow card, C Doris displayed exceptional leadership throughout the game. His firm handling of the ball and ability to gain yards deservedly earns him a 9.
Andy Farrell’s strategic tweaks in key positions mid-game proved fruitful. His ability to marshal his team into a physical tussle, and then coating it with a touch of finesse, showed his solid understanding of the game’s flow. For such a powerful performance, he is rated 9.
Reserved players: Ciarán Frawley truly impressed in his role. What a massive benefit it could have been for Leinster if he could land pressure dropkicks. The subs did precisely what was required, reinforcing the team towards the end of the match; they more than delivered, rating an exceptional 9.
