On Sunday morning, in Zurich, the World Championship Para-Cycling Women’s B time-trial title was successfully retained by the Irish duo, Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly. Similar to their victory at the Paris Paralympics, they triumphed over the British team composed of Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holly.
Another British team, Lora Fachie and Corrine Hall, clinched the bronze, coming in third after a second Irish team of Josephine Healion and Eve McChrystal.
Dunlevy and Kelly navigated the 29.9km distance in a span of 43 minutes and 14.47 seconds, edging out the closest British team by over a minute. Despite having their initial 52-second lead at the 10.4km midway point reduced to 37 seconds by the second half, their strong finish guaranteed them the gold.
Their sights are now set on the upcoming Wednesday’s Women’s Road Race, as they aspire to replicate their double gold success from the previous World Championships in Glasgow.
